TAMAR MEO

singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist

On the day I lost my first tooth, I asked the Tooth Fairy for a battery-powered recording device that I could take with me everywhere. I was born and raised in a small ‘Kibbutz’ (communal settlement) in the countryside, and as I walked through the citrus orchards or lay in a hammock in the garden, I would record my first ideas on that little device.

At the age of 8, I began taking classical piano lessons at the conservatory—becoming a skilled pianist who performed in concerts at a young age. Alongside my lessons, I trained in the martial art of Taekwondo. The combination of classical music and martial arts became a part of my identity. I would spend hours practicing the piano, and then go outside to train—it was a way to release energy and regain focus. Today, I hold a black belt in Taekwondo—something about balancing piano with kicks and punches always seemed perfectly logical to me.

I grew up surrounded by the serene nature and the music that flowed from the CDs my father would bring me from the big city. There was Avril Lavigne, No Doubt, “How Long Has This Been Going On?” with inspiring performances by Sarah Vaughan, Joe Pass, and Oscar Peterson, “Baduizm” by Erykah Badu, and soundtracks from movies like “Chicago”, “Across the Universe” and “Moulin Rouge.” At night, I would sit in the living room, holding the lyrics booklet from the CD, memorizing all the words to all the songs. These were the moments when I began to feel that music was what I was meant to do.

When I was in my adolescent years, I felt something changing within me—a need to push boundaries, experiment, and seek my musical truth. That feeling crystallized, and I enrolled in a vocal jazz performance program at the prestigious ‘Rimon School Of Music’.

My musical journey led me to countless significant encounters as I began to pour all my energy into my solo career, where I sing, play, write, and compose my music. This led to the creation and release of my debut EP, ‘CZRS,’ an experimental pop album inspired by electronic, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and world music. The album received significant attention in the local scene and served as the launching point for an impressive tour of solo, duo, and band performances on various stages, from small to large, with a loyal audience that continued to grow.

Over the years, I have developed not only as a singer but also as a multi-instrumentalist musician. One of the achievements I am most proud of is my work with the Kol Act band, where I am not only a singer but also a pianist, accompanying at large and prestigious events. I served as a pianist to the singer Ishay Ribo during the Independence Day broadcast of my country; performed as a backup singer on national TV, and opened for Ester Rada at Zappa Tel Aviv—a renowned international singer.

Today, I am working on an exciting new project—’RENDEZVOUS,’ a show based on the concept of encounters—with people, with places, with ourselves. The show invites the audience to relive their moments of connection and growth through music that blends blues, jazz, and soul with an electronic beat.

My music was born out of life itself—from the nature in which I grew up and the human encounters that lead me to create. As a musician, I am constantly seeking the connection with the audience—to sing, to dance, to cry, to meet in that moment where music and life merge.

My musical journey began with an old recording device and CDs from the city, and today it continues with full force—with a lot of passion, love, and a desire to create and influence people all over the world. I invite you to join me on this journey, to our musical encounter, where we will connect, feel, and experience something that has always been there and at the same time is exactly what we are looking for—a meeting that will bring us what we need, just when we need it most.
